Photo-Induced Reduction Reaction of Methylene Blue in an Ionic Liquid
نویسندگان
چکیده
Reduction of methylene blue (MB) occurred by photo irradiation at 280 370 nm wavelengths to a solution of MB in an ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BMIMCl), which was confirmed by color change and UV-Vis measurement of the solution. Furthermore, the reduced MB was oxidized again by standing the solution under the conditions of light shielding at 50 ̊C. The fluorescence spectra of the solution excited at 350 nm suggested that the photo-induced reduction probably took place via electron-transfer from BMIMCl to MB.

Synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles in pure 2-hydroxyethylammonium formate room temperature ionic liquid and investigation of its photocatalytic properties
TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by modified sol—gel method using pure room temperature ionic liquid(RTIL) 2-hydroxyethylammonium formate as a reaction medium. The structure and morphology of TiO2nanoparticles were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), BET surface analysis and scanningelectron microscopy (SEM). TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized in open and closed vessels. The ...
متن کاملTrace Analysis of Niflumic Acid in Milk and Human Plasma by Ion-pair-based Vortex Assisted Dispersive Liquid-liquid Microextraction Combined with UV-Vis Spectrophotometry
A simple, accurate and fast vortex-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure has been developed for the extractive spectrophotometric determination of niflumic acid in biological samples. The method is based on the formation of an ion association complex between niflumic acid and methylene blue. The resulting ion-pair was extracted into dichloromethane and its absorbance was m...
متن کاملSol-gel Synthesis of ZnO Nanoparticles and ZnO-TiO2-SiO2 Nanocomposites and Their Photo-catalyst Investigation in Methylene Blue Degradation
In this work firstly ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized via a simple precipitation method. At the second step titanium dioxide and silicon dioxide shell were synthesized on the core. For preparation ZnO-TiO2-SiO2 the sol product was calcinated at 500 ºC for 2h. Properties of the product were examined by X-raydiffraction pattern (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform inf...
متن کاملPhoto-induced inactivation of viruses: adsorption of methylene blue, thionine, and thiopyronine on Qbeta bacteriophage.
The adsorption of cationic organic dyes (methylene blue, thionine, and thiopyronine) on Qbeta bacteriophage was studied by UV-visible and fluorescence spectroscopy. The dyes have shown a strong affinity to the virus and some have been used as sensitizers for photo-induced inactivation of virus. In the methylene blue concentration range of 0.1-5 microM and at high ratios of dye to virus (greater...
متن کاملSimple and Low Temperature Method for Preparation of Nanocrystalline ZnO in Presence of [EMIM][EtSO4] and Their Photocatalytic Activities
Simple, low temperature and environmentally benign green route is proposed for preparation of nanocrystalline ZnO in presence of a low-cost and halide-free room-temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) by refluxing at 95 °C for 60 minutes. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies display that the products are well-crystallized in the form of wurtzite hexagonal. Morphology of the as-prepared ZnO was character...
